The center of Midtown West is Times Square, where the constantly flashing neon lights (some many stories high) are the beating heart of Manhattan. The area is certainly always alive with activity. If you have never seen Time Square, plan you first visit for dark. Start walking from 57th Street and Broadway to the south. The spectacle will open out before your eyes, slowly at first, and then with a rush of energy and animation.
